A route is a table which registers which gateway address must be used to
transfer IP packets to a particular network.
For instance, referring to the drawing above, if IP packets have to be
transmitted from the IP network 1 to the IP network 2, a route has to be
created as follows :
Route name : “From NETWK 1 to NETWK 2”
Destination IP addr : “network 2 IP address”
Gateway IP addr : IP02
Remarks :
“Network 2 IP address” is the address of the network Nr 2; for instance
192.168.2.0.
IP02 is the address of the SHDSL interface of the XSLAN Nr 2.
To enable the routing function and assign an IP @ to the SHDSL
interface,
• select the “IP protocol & routing” menu and then the “IP protocol” menu,
• Select the “Routing mode active” checkbox.
• Enter the IP address, netmask, and, eventually, default gateway assigned to the
SHDSL network.
